Last Monday a security researcher identified nearly 200 instances of MongoDB installations that have been erased and held for ransom, asking victims to pay hefty ransoms for the data to be restored. By Tuesday, this number reached approximately 2,000 databases and by Friday this count reached 10,500.

First Impressions Apple AirPods
My advice, Try not to think of the Airpods are a headphones replacement but rather than an upgrade to an earbud like a Jawbone. The ease of pairing and moving across devices does make you want to take it everywhere. As an earbud, phone calls are clear on both ends, I heard no signs of clipping and the directional mic was impressive. As for Bluetooth, I found no signal drops or noise in any of my pockets.
First Thoughts Eero
My experience so far has been positive, with speed tests over wifi hitting 160mb's and what seems like no dead spots in my 3200sqft home. I'm a happy camper even though I feel the price is sill a bit steep. It may be possible as eero matures a bit more it may grow into its price tag. As is, it's a bit steep for the average user.
FDA orders Scanadu to shut down support for its Scout device and customers are mad | TechCrunch
Wow, This startup was one I've been following since the beginning, and the direction I believe we were going in the next 5-10 years. Scanadu seems like something out of StarTrak but some day we will get there.
It seems Scanadu did not get full approval from the Food and Drug Administration even though they have been working closely with them.
I really hope they find a way around this.

Apple iOS v10.1.1 - iCloud & Device Lock Activation Bypass via local Buffer Overflow Vulnerability - YouTube
There are claims by two anonymous researchers in which they found a way to bypass the activation lock feature in iOS. I have not personally tried this yet, but plan to and will report back at that time. However, it's important to know in the meantime.
Their attack focuses on buffer overload. One of the few things allowed from the activation lock screen is connecting to a Wi-Fi network. It's said that by crashing the service that enforces the lock screen by entering very long strings of characters in the WPA2-Enterprise username and password fields and in time freezing. He then proceeded to use an Apple smart cover to put the device to sleep and reopen after a few seconds later the Wifi screen crashes to the home screen bypassing the activation lock.

Free Skates are Strangely Awesome | YouTube
I’ve done lots of extreme sports in my youth, from BMX to Skateboards and home built half pipes to street freestyle. It may just be my age speaking here but man free Skates are strangely awesome. If you haven’t heard of them before check out this youtube video. While watching Isamu Yamamoto shredding keep in mind he is only 13 years old.
Fingbox | Indiegogo
One of my favorite network scanning tools on iOS is Fing. Today they enter the world of hardware as they blow past their Indiegogo goal by 326%. Fing has developed a simple device aimed to secure and troubleshoot your home network. The idea is it would be able to sense anything out of the ordinary and report back. Such things as new devices on your network changes in your internet performance, or simply find out who’s home.
This is a great idea if the price is right. Most (being overly generous) upper-end routers have similar features, hover Fing always did a clean nice job. I’m excited and interested in getting my hands on one to test. But as all things crowdsourced we never know when that is until it’s out. Fing is shooting for a June 2017 launch.

GHOST IN THE SHELL - Official Trailer | YouTube
I was a big fan of the original and I'm looking forward to the live action remake of Mamoru Oshii’s Ghost in the Shell. There is some controversy surrounding the casting of Scarlett Johansson as “The Major” but I think she will be a great fit for the role. For those who don’t know the premise of the movie. The Major is a Cyborg counter-cyberterrorist field commander and her task force “Section 9” take down cyber criminals and hackers.

Quotidian Pen - The World’s First Magnetic Propulsion Pen by Quotidian — Kickstarter
Some of you may know, I love well balanced machined pens. I currently have my eye on a Magnetic propulsion pen called Quotidian. It seems to work by having a strong magnetic cap. By attaching the cap to the back of the pen the ink cartridge is propelled forward and exposes the tip for writing.
This is a Kickstarter project with about 2 weeks left and has way passed it pledged goal of $2,842. It’s currently sitting just over $45k.
Hello, I'm Bear
A new app called "Bear" has hit the market and picking up a lot of steam due to being featured on the AppStore. It reminds me of my daily writing app Ulysses with some differences. At first glance, it's very clean but lacks folder organization in favor of Tags which is a bit concerning for organizing large amounts of articles. The app itself has a free and pro version, the latter being a subscription. They are offering a month trial period for the pro subscription. I intend to put Bear through the paces during that period and report back my findings.
Are you using "Bear" whats your thoughts on it? How does it compare to other writing applications and or services?
