Ipad2: What you need to know
Apple has announced that the Ipad2's will go on sale March 11th, there has been no indication of pre-orders yet. The Ipad2 will be released in two colors white and black and will be 33% thinner at 8.8mm and 2 oz's lighter. Sporting features including 1GH dual-core A5 chip, forward and rear facing HD 720p cameras. This new CPU is twice as fast and pushes the graphics performance 9 times faster. While still maintaining the battery life at 10hrs of use and 1 month standby.
Apple has maintained the same pricing schema as before starting at $499 for a 16GB WiFi-only iPad 2 and stretching up to $829 for a WiFi + 3G SKU with 64GB of storage. They have also noted the price drop of $100 for there First Gen Ipad's
The display has not been changed nor has the Thunderbolt connector been added.
There are some new accessories for the Ipad 2 as well. Starting with the Apple Digital AV Adapter this will alow you to output capable 1080p though HDMI. This will set you back $39.
Apple designed a new screen cover alongside the Ipad 2. It's connect by a magnetic flap that protects the front of your Ipad and automatically wakes and puts to sleep your Ipad when opened or closed. These covers also fold to various positions to use as a stand. There are two version the Plastic version will set you back $39 and the Leather will be $69
Apple is targeting 10-12 Million Ipad 2 Shipments in the second quarter
