Security: Heartbleed exposed

Heartbleed

A bug that specifically affects OpenSSL, a secure connection technology that is used by many Internet services to keep their transmissions secure. Hackers have identified and have taken advantage of a bug enabling them to steal a key code that then can be used to decrypt and take sensitive information, including user passwords.

Luckily A fix has been created for Heartbleed, but various websites across the Internet are still trying to implement it as fast as they can.

Experts within various security fields all recommended that users change passwords for all their online accounts to protect themselves from this recent outbreak. They also add that before changing your passwords, users should first check that those sites have squashed the Heartbleed bug.

Many top sites like Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Amazon and Yahoo have already squashed this bug.

Filippo Valsorda, an Italian cyber security expert has created a website that can test for the new Heartbleed bug by simply typing in the address of the site you wish to test.
